What impact does PropTech have on real estate?
According to Cityscape Global 2019 exhibition at Dubai World Trade Centre, which will run from 25-27 September, proptech is already impacting construction and property trend moves towards delivering “intelligent” buildings.
Cityscape group director, Chris Speller, said proptech was a key transformational element impacting all aspects of the industry – from design and planning to construction and delivery. He added: “The impact is also cross-sectional, taking in commercial, governmental, hospitality, and residential real estate as the industry leverages digitisation, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence to deliver intelligent buildings and smart cities which are arising worldwide including the Middle East.”
Disintermediation is also a key trend in the industry. Technology is creating a more direct link between buyers and sellers, lenders and owners, and investors and funds, cutting out the middleman, with big implications for the current shape of the sector. We have started to see more CRE firms invest in integrated software solutions instead of solely relying on spreadsheets, freeing up time previously spent on manual tasks that can now be spent on value-generating activity.
How will PropTech revolutionise the future of real estate globally and locally?
We’ve only scratched the surface of the potential of artificial intelligence in transforming the industry. Whole professions will vanish or diminish in status. Some time-consuming processes will become instantaneous or completely unnecessary.
